LOCAL COMMUNITY EVENTS:
I just selected a few here to highlight....
Sept 4 - Diggity Dig Dip
10:00 am - 2:00 pm. Dogs get the chance to take a "dip" in the Onalaska pool before they drain it for the season! This is a fundraiser for the Onalaska Park & Rec Dept. and the Coulee Region Humane Society. The cost is $10 per dog and $5 for each additional dog from the same family. All humans are at no charge, but donations will be accepted. The Aquatic Center is across the street from the OmniCenter, 255 Riders Club Road.
Opening Sept 4th at 11:00 a.m. - Hidden Trails Corn Maze!
A must for all ages! This corn maze takes some skill. Every year, they have professional designers come in to create an intricate maze - well worth the visit. Check it out here!
Sept 10-12 - Elvis Explosion
Sept 10-11 - Story Fest - Myrick Park
Storytelling, storytelling workshops, folk music, local artists` work and the best festival food you have ever enjoyed. Featuring nationally recognized storytellers! The only storytelling fest in WI! Click Here for Details!
Sept 9-12 - Garland Days - West Salem
Poetry Contest, Flea/Craft Market, All-Village Rummage Sale, Silent Auction, Pioneer Stew. Celebration of author Hamlin Garland.
Sept 11 - Gundersen Lutheran Steppin' Out in Pink
Steppin’ Out in Pink is a non-competitive fundraising 5-mile walk for all ages and abilities. It raises money to support breast cancer research at the Gundersen Lutheran Norma J. Vinger Center for Breast Care. The research being done at Gundersen Lutheran will change the way breast cancer is treated locally and nationally. Click Here for all the details!
Sept 11- Discover the Silent City Tour
11am-4pm. Guided tour by historically dressed actors and actresses re-enacting well-known and fascinating figures from La Crosse County`s past. Tours leave every 15 minutes with the last tour leaving at 3pm. Rain or shine. Oak Grove Cemetery, 1407 La Crosse Street

Sept 24-26 - Warrens Cranberry Fest – Warren, WI
About an hour away past Tomah/Sparta, this is a pretty large fest. Very cool to see how cranberries are grown and distributed. 1250 booths and more than 3 miles of booth frontage. Click here for the website!
Sept 24-Oct 2 - OKTOBERFEST!! – LaCrosse's biggest fest is in full swing celebrating a 50 year tradition this year!!
FRIDAY the festivities begin with an Opening Day Parade at 10:15 and Tapping of the "Golden" Keg at 11 a.m. This is a day many take off from work and come to celebrate together.
The "big" Maple Leaf Parade is Saturday at 10 a.m. When the first Oktoberfest Maple Leaf Parade kicked off at 3:02 p.m., October 15, 1961, it drew the biggest crowd La Crosse had ever seen! Little did the Sergeant Color Guard from American Legion Post 52 know they were beginning a tradition that 49 years later continues to draw thousands.
Sept 25 - Norkedalen's Threshing Bee - Coon Valley Celebrate an old-time Threshing Bee in an authentic pioneer setting complete with a wide variety of demonstrations of farm and home skills. There are children's activities, horse drawn wagon rides an other animals on the farm, and don't forget to make reservations for the mouth-watering, rib-sticking threshing dinner. 10am-4pm. $6 adults, $3 children, $15 family. http://www.norskedalen.org/
